In Ear Headphones 1DD+4BA Hybrid IEM Dynamic biocellulose diaphragm drivers for powerful bass Knowles balanced armature drivers for natural and precise mids and highs Studio monitor tuning with powerful bass Flat, neutral midrange, for faithful reproduction 3 way crossover 5 driver hybrid configurationAs the name suggests, the Arete utilises the full potential of all drivers in this 1DD+4BA configuration. The classic American Knowles drivers have been chosen for their proven performance in the mids and highs, while a new dynamic biocellulose cone driver is used for powerful bass. Biocellulose cone driver A robust 10 mm dynamic biocellulose cone driver provides the sub-bass and bass response. By using stronger neodymium magnets, the bass response is extremely responsive and tight, while the biocellulose cone allows for better structuring in the bass range. Compared to typical balanced arm woofers, this larger 10mm dynamic driver delivers significantly better bass performance. American Knowles balanced armature drivers Two Knowles 29689 balanced armature drivers, renowned for their best-in-class midrange performance, deliver natural and accurate mids and highs. Vocals and stringed instruments in particular come across exceptionally well thanks to the precisely tuned 29689 drivers. Finally, the Knowles 31736 Twin Balanced Armature driver has been selected to deliver pristine high frequency reproduction. These drivers are some of the most recognised and popular drivers in the IEM industry, and we've reintroduced them thanks to our latest tuning innovations to give them a fresh sound. Balanced monitor tuning Tuning was the most important aspect in the development of the Arete, it had to be natural, like professional studio monitors, yet provide a punchy bass and a pleasant listening experience. The midrange is almost flat and natural from 300Hz to 1kHz, so instruments and voices sound exactly as they were recorded, without any colouration. In addition, this neutral midrange allows for excellent layering and imaging of instruments, allowing the listener to recognise every instrument line within the mix. Concentrated bass response To achieve a subwoofer-like bass signature, the bass has been tuned with a 9dB shelf that cuts off precisely at 300Hz. The bass is powerful and deep, yet clean so it doesn't muddy the sound. The tuning of the lower frequencies allows music lovers to fully savour the bass in the music while maintaining a clean and natural overall sound. Professional high-frequency reproduction The treble has been carefully tuned to combine a clean sound with a pleasant and natural perception of the upper overtones. The treble response is free of unnatural peaks or harshness, while reproducing all the micro-details and nuances of the music. Finally, the special use of Knowles 31736 tweeters allows for excellent treble extension, providing a more airy and spacious sound. Three-way crossover The tuning of the Arete has been made possible by a sophisticated 3-way electronic crossover system with three independent acoustic sound tubes per side. This configuration offers the best separation in the individual frequency ranges.
