Earbuds from Japan with phase plug Lizer Lab earbuds are the first in the world to be developed and marketed with a phase plug, allowing music to be heard from the front without distortion. The Jijuma Horn offers a sound reproduction reminiscent of concerts, live events, or loudspeakers, as the shape of the earbuds and the phase plug in the ear create a different sound image than conventional earbuds. The biggest problem with conventional in-ear and over-ear headphones is localization in the head, and this problem has been largely neglected until now. In addition, the sound emitted by the earbuds differs from the sound that the ear originally hears directly, e.g., due to a lack of bass caused by poor sealing of the ear canal, noise perception due to self-resonance (HRTF), and lack of sound transmission between the left and right sides, which causes problems with transmission to the eardrum via the ear canal. Lizer Lab has developed completely new earbuds that are designed to solve many of these problems from the ground up. The main feature is the so-called phase plug, an attachment that is attached to the cup-shaped earplug. In order to achieve more frontal localization, a small hole has also been added in the forward direction near the base of the cup to prevent a lack of bass and allow the sound picked up by the ear cup to be heard from the same opening. The ear cup opening on the side of the ear canal has a very flexible outer shell, which significantly improves insertion into the ear canal. To achieve the above effects, it is essential to ensure a seal with the ear canal, which is achieved by selecting a suitable size. By directing the sound through the phase plug, a natural sound is reproduced, comparable to the wide beam of a shower head. Part of the sound in the main chamber is emitted from an opening at a specific point in the chamber towards the tragus, and the sound is picked up by the ear cup and captured through the opening near the tragus, so that a sound from the front is perceived. In addition, the sound reflected by the tragus is scattered near the ear, optimizing the characteristics and structure of the ear and creating a natural listening experience. To transmit part of the sound directly into the ear canal, there is a hole at the tip of the phase plug, the metal plug body. This combines the sound with the reflection, delay, and scattering from the main chamber at the tip of the phase plug, combining this time difference with the sense of direction to reproduce natural sound. The Lizer Lab Jijuma Horns are compatible with many in-ear models, with the exception of some products with thin sound openings. Suitable for in-ear headphones with a sound opening diameter of Φ5.5 mm or more.
