Shanling EC Zero T Max - portable CD player with enhanced amplifier performance
The Shanling EC Zero T MAX combines the tactile experience of playing physical CDs with the technology of a modern high-resolution audio system.
Its specially developed CD mechanism supports seamless playback, while an active magnetic clamp ensures that CDs remain stable and reduces unwanted vibrations during playback.
Retro Design – Robust, Modern Construction
Its solid aluminum chassis, tempered glass CD cover, and titanium-gray finish give the player a distinctive, retro-inspired look, while keeping it compact enough to move from room to room or take on the go.
In-House Developed 24-Bit R2R DAC
Expertly Optimized Sound Performance
At the heart of the EC Zero T MAX is Shanling’s in-house developed 24-bit R2R DAC, consisting of 192 high-precision 0.1% resistors.
A redesigned circuit and an optimized power supply deliver a wider, deeper soundstage and improved transparency in the midrange and high frequencies.
With the selectable “Oversampling” and “Non-Oversampling” modes, you can tailor the sound reproduction to your music.
OS mode delivers a clearer and more precise sound, while NOS mode offers a softer and more natural character.
Two JAN6418 tubes—inspired by Shanling’s tradition
A pair of JAN6418 tubes gives the EC Zero T MAX its warm, soft, and relaxed tube sound. For a faster and more dynamic sound, you can switch to the transistor output stage. This makes it easy to adapt the player to different headphones, recordings, and listening preferences without requiring a separate amplifier.
Improved Amplifier Design
The improved AD8397-based amplifier delivers significantly more power while reducing output impedance. The balanced 4.4-mm output delivers up to 1,300 mW at 32 ohms, while the 3.5-mm jack delivers up to 361 mW at 32 ohms—even when running on the built-in battery.
This means the EC Zero T MAX has enough power for demanding full-size headphones while also being suitable for sensitive in-ear monitors.
A few extras that make life more enjoyable
In addition to CD playback, the EC Zero T MAX can be used as a USB DAC that supports PCM audio up to 768 kHz/32-bit as well as DSD512.
It can also rip CDs directly to connected USB storage devices.
Thanks to Bluetooth 5.3 transmission, you can listen to music through compatible wireless headphones and speakers, with support for the aptX Adaptive, aptX, and SBC codecs.
For integration into a larger audio system, the player features:
- 3.5-mm and 4.4-mm headphone outputs
- 3.5-mm and 4.4-mm line outputs
- Coaxial and optical digital outputs
- Dedicated USB DAC input
- External USB-C power supply mode
Built-in battery for on-the-go use—external power supply at home
The built-in 5,500-mAh battery provides up to approximately eight hours of playback via the 3.5-mm headphone output, 7.5 hours via the 4.4-mm output, or 20 hours when streaming via Bluetooth. At home, the EC Zero T MAX can be powered by an external USB-C power adapter, making it equally suitable for mobile music enjoyment and stationary use on your desk.
