Compact Portable CD Player
Shanling has been manufacturing CD players for over 30 years. From affordable models of the 1990s to massive high-end devices—but it was the compact EC Mini that heralded the current trend toward the revival of portable CD players. Initially, Shanling targeted discerning audiophiles with its flagship model, the EC Zero T, equipping it with a special R2R DAC and tubes.
This was later followed by the simpler EC Zero AKM, which brought the same advanced CD system to the mid-range market.
And today, Shanling is making portable CD players even more affordable and easier to carry with the new EC Play!
With the EC Play, Shanling isn’t aiming for high-fidelity sound, but simply wants to revive the old days when portable CD players were practical and an integral part of everyday life.
The EC Play is designed to be smaller than all its predecessors; at just 418 g, it’s the lightest yet still features a robust aluminum construction.
Its tactile buttons allow for easy playback control on the go, and the small screen provides direct access to the device’s settings, without the need for apps.
Thanks to Shanling’s active magnetic CD clamp, the EC Play delivers extremely stable CD playback under all conditions, at any angle, and even during active movement.
Enjoy seamless playback via the 3.5mm or 4.4mm headphone output, with the Cirrus Logic CS43918 DAC and two SGM8262 amplifiers delivering great sound tuned by the hi-fi experts at Shanling.
With a built-in 3450 mAh battery, the EC Play offers up to 12 hours of uninterrupted playback and a remarkable output power of 700 mW at 32 Ω, covering everything from earbuds to large headphones.
And even when you’re at home or at your desk, the EC Play unlocks even more of its functionality thanks to its 3.5-mm SPDIF coaxial output, conveniently extending dedicated Hi-Fi DACs with CD playback.
The music doesn’t stop with the last track on the CD, as the Bluetooth 6.0 receiver mode enables direct streaming from smartphones via AAC or LDAC codecs.
And for fans of high-resolution files, the USB DAC mode supports music up to 384 kHz and DSD256.
