With the ONIX Zenith XDA20, Shanling presents a high-end DAC and headphone amplifier that combines luxurious design with state-of-the-art components. It uses two ES9039Pro DAC chips in combination with a specially developed I/V architecture for digital-to-analog conversion of rare quality, capable of processing data up to 32-bit 768 kHz PCM and DSD512. The amplifier stage is based on a TPA6120 chip, which ensures smooth sound reproduction and an output of up to 1620 mW at 32 Ω. The entire device is housed in an impressive CNC-milled aluminum case, which features the black and gold aesthetic characteristic of the ONIX series.

State-of-the-art technology
The heart of the XDA20 is based on a dual ESS ES9039Pro chip, which can process PCM streams up to 32-bit/768 kHz and DSD512 files with exemplary precision. This dual DAC chip is supported by a proprietary “Brighton” I/V architecture developed in-house by Shanling, which uses 8 OPA1611s to ensure rich, detailed sound reproduction with an expansive soundstage and impressive dynamics.
Amplification is handled by a TPA6120 chip, known for its ability to deliver smooth, controlled sound even with demanding headphones. The XDA20 can deliver up to 1620 mW at 32 Ω and has a comfortable power reserve.
The device is powered by a low-noise, high-quality power supply with two Talema transformers (25 W and 15 W), supported by four 3300 uF/63 V capacitors, ensuring stable, noise-free regulation.
The Zenith XDA20 adapts to any type of setup and offers three different output modes: preamplifier output, line output, and headphone amplifier, which can be easily selected depending on the application. It has a particularly extensive selection of digital connections, including a USB-B input, an I2S input via HDMI, a coaxial RCA connection, an optical Toslink connection, and BNC and AES/EBU connections. On the output side, it offers single-ended RCA and balanced XLR connectors on the rear panel, while the front panel features a 6.35 mm jack headphone output, ensuring great versatility for both listening through headphones and integration into a larger hi-fi system.
