7 drivers, 4 driver types
The Septet is Kiwi Ears' latest development in IEMs with a hybrid driver configuration. Each Septet features four different driver technologies with a total of 7 drivers per side for a comprehensive and technical audio performance.
10mm dynamic driver
The Septet uses the proven 10 mm composite dynamic driver for sub-bass and bass. The large-diaphragm dynamic driver outperforms other driver types, delivering powerful, deep sub-bass down to 8 Hz and a subwoofer-like bass sound. Precisely tuned using passive and acoustic strategies, the Septet delivers rich yet clear bass for an uncompromising listening experience.
4 balanced armature drivers
Four balanced armature drivers have been selected to reproduce the Septet's low-mid and mid-range frequencies. Due to their speed, balanced armature drivers provide a clear, precise and detailed sound and give your music the precision of a studio monitor. Two independent crossovers are used for the four drivers, with each channel dedicated to the low-mid and mid-range to ensure complete coverage of the entire frequency range with minimal harmonic distortion.
1 Microplanar transducer
The Septet features a single Micro Planar Transducer (MPT) driver as an ultra-tweeter. The newly redesigned MPT offers significantly improved high frequency performance, increasing clarity and minimizing distortion and artifacts in the sound. The natural texture and timbre of the MPT enables smooth high-frequency reproduction up to 30 kHz to bring out every little detail and the airiness of the music without harshness.
1 piezoelectric driver
The Septet features an updated PZT driver that improves texture and clarity in the upper frequency ranges. Synchronized with the MPT drivers, the PZT delivers extreme articulation that refines perceived airiness across the frequency spectrum, contributing to better resolution, soundstage and imaging.
Open design
The Septet has been designed as an open back IEM so that each driver is fully vented. This design allows for better airflow and driver responsiveness, improving the soundstage and adding “acoustic” texture to the sound. It is an integral part of the Septet's natural and immersive tuning.
Comprehensive development
The Kiwi Ears team spent nearly two years developing and designing the Septet. The Septet utilizes a comprehensive 5-way passive crossover network combined with acoustic tuning strategies and a three-bore nozzle system to achieve a balanced and optimal tuning profile. The 5-way crossover spans 4 driver types and 7 drivers to assign the optimum frequency range to each driver group, minimizing harmonic distortion and enhancing performance.
Responsive and balanced sound balance
The Septet strives for the ideal balance between musical engagement and sonic accuracy. Designed for both music lovers and professional sound engineers, the Septet has an impressive sub-bass shelf that transitions cleanly into the low-mid range and mids, which is natural and free of artificial coloration. The high-frequency response is clear yet remains at a comfortable level throughout the entire curvature, allowing for extended yet smooth treble reproduction.
Modular cable system
The Septet comes standard with a modular cable system that allows easy switching between 3.5mm unbalanced and 4.4mm balanced plugs. The customized cable features high-purity copper wires for noise-free signal transmission.
