Bluetooth DAC and headphone amplifier
- Dual ES9069Q DAC chips
- Bluetooth 5.4
- THX AAA78+ amplification
An unrivalled champion
The BTR17 combines FIIO's years of experience in the development of DACs and headphone amplifiers. In a compact package, it incorporates flagship-level features such as a multi-stage audio architecture and a precision power supply comparable to other high-end players and DAC/headphone amplifier combinations. It is a true all-rounder that will once again set a new standard among Bluetooth headphone amplifiers.
A new chip era, a new era of lossless Bluetooth
The BTR17 is equipped with Qualcomm's new flagship Bluetooth chip QCC5181, which not only fulfils the Bluetooth LE audio standard and has a transmission bandwidth of 2.1 Mbps, but also enables lossless quality within the aptX Adaptive system. This means that the chip is able to achieve CD-level lossless sound quality via Bluetooth audio, bringing you even closer to the music with all its fine details. In addition, the BTR17 also supports the latest Bluetooth standard - Bluetooth 5 .4. It also supports the Bluetooth audio codecs LDAC, aptX Adaptive 96kHz/24bit and aptX Low Latency, which combined with Snapdragon Sound technology means your Bluetooth listening experience has never sounded so good. Comparison table of Bluetooth encoding bit rates AAC: 328kbps aptX Adaptive: 420kbps aptX HD: 576kbps LDAC: 990kbps aptX Lossless>1.2Mbps
Independent power supply, ‘amplified’ performance with patented desktop mode The BTR17 has a dedicated D.Mode switch (desktop mode) and a connection for an external, independent power supply. If you connect the BTR17 to a phone in desktop mode as a dongle DAC and headphone amplifier, you can also connect an external power supply to the BTR17 via the dedicated power connector. In this way, the BTR17's battery is fully powered via USB, which not only prevents overcharging and over-discharging of the built-in battery, but also enables powerful audio output without draining the battery of the connected phone. Patent number: L202321946664.8
One switch for multiple applications
The BTR17 features a convenient three-position PC/BT/PHONE switch that can be used to seamlessly switch between operating modes. By switching modes, the BTR17 can optimise its power supply status according to the connected device, making it perfect for different applications. PC (computer sound card): The device is fully powered by the computer. BT (Bluetooth DAC and amplifier): The device is powered by the internal battery and can be used for charging and power supply when connected to USB. PHONE (phone dongle): The device's internal battery participates in the power supply, reducing the power consumption of the connected phone.
XMOS 16-core XU316, ingeniously innovative
The flagship XMOS XU316 is used as the USB chip, which is characterised by lower latency, more stable transmission and better compatibility than the USB controllers commonly used. With support for 768kHz/32bit audio, DSD512 native and MQA full decoding, the chip can process almost any audio stream that comes its way. The high processing power of the XU316 also enables a high-resolution PEQ that supports up to 192 kHz audio on the BTR17.
Sound tuning, completely at your fingertips, high-precision, lossless 10-band PEQ
FIIO has constantly worked on integrating software and hardware to develop user-friendly applications and web interfaces. The continuously refined proprietary PEQ adjustment algorithms allow you to fine-tune EQ frequency points, gain, bandwidth and Q value to your liking. This allows you to fully simulate or correct the frequency response curve of different headphones. You can also import, export, share and save EQ curves so that everyone can enjoy the fun of tuning. *Web-based PEQ storage location: Top status bar of the official FIIO website - Support - Web-based PEQ settings. *There is a dedicated EQ shortcut button on the side of the unit that allows you to quickly select the desired EQ settings.
Two cores and four channels, outstanding performance, two flagship ES9069Q DACs Inside the BTR17 are two ESS ES9069Q
DACs based on the fourth generation 32-bit HyperStream architecture, offering high performance with lower power consumption. This architecture helps to further reduce the digital noise in the DAC, achieving a dynamic range of 130 dB and an overall distortion of -120 dB. The result is a fuller, musical sound against a clean background. DNR: 130dB THD+N: -120dB
THX AAA 78+ headphone amplifier, thoroughly improved
The BTR17 utilises the THX AAA 78+ headphone amplifier as used in the well-known FIIO KA17 and M23. The four-channel, fully balanced design with 8 operational amplifiers connected in parallel ensures robust yet controlled performance for a clearer and more natural sound.
Miniature amplifier, power sound
When USB power is applied to the POWER IN port and desktop mode is enabled, the BTR17's THX headphone amplifier utilises four operational amplifiers connected in parallel to amplify the power to its full potential. The result is a balanced output power of up to 650mW+650mW, an astonishing increase of 203% compared to the BTR7. This is comparable even with desktop headphone amplifiers.
Multi-stage hi-fi audio architecture, comparable to premium digital audio players
The BTR17 integrates mid to high level hi-fi player level signal processing into its compact housing. Digital signals are skilfully processed by the digital audio and DAC converter with dual clocking. LPF pre-amplification and multi-stage analogue audio processing ensure that details and dynamic range of audio signals are accurately restored - comparable to premium digital audio players.
Multi-stage power supply, precise power allocation, three-stage ten-rail precision power supply, limitless energy
Inside the BTR17 is a three-stage precision power supply with three main rails. The first stage consists of filtering and overvoltage protection, the second stage is responsible for DC-DC step-up conversion, and the third stage consists of high-precision LDO voltage stabilisation. There is an independent power supply rail for the digital signal, the digital-to-analogue conversion and the analogue amplification parts of the audio circuit as well as more than 10 small rails. This specially designed power supply ensures a stable and sufficient power supply, providing a solid foundation for excellent sound quality. Comprehensive protection, worry-free listening Integrated temperature and DC output detection, prevents damage to the device and headphones when abnormal conditions are detected to ensure safe use. Maximum volume limit, prevents unintentionally high volumes and protects against hearing damage.
Flagship style, all in the detail
The eye-catching volume control features a 3D design engraved on both sides. The exquisite craftsmanship of the pushable volume control is evident when pressed and turned, providing excellent tactile feel and control. The robust 3D aluminium alloy body with a back cover made of innovative, fully welded rawhide and the two-piece front design provide a comfortable grip. The new user interface, made possible by the 1.3-inch colour IPS screen, supports both Chinese and English displays. The font colour even changes along with the audio format. The entire design of the BTR17 is centred on allowing the user to operate the device intuitively and easily grasp the current status. Durability of the control button: Press>50000 times Turn>40000 times *The figures are from FIIO Labs tests. Actual figures may vary due to different usage conditions. Blue: SBC; Cyan: AAC; Purple: aptX/aptX LL; Yellow: aptX HD; White: LDAC; Green: aptX Adaptive/aptX Lossless
