With the DX5 II, Topping launches the direct successor to its famous DX5 DAC and headphone amplifier. This new version has a lot of changes and is better than its predecessor in every respect.
Digital-to-analog conversion is now handled by two ES9039Q2M chips in a balanced architecture, supporting sampling rates up to PCM 32 bit 768 kHz and DSD512.
In terms of amplification, the brand's classic NFCA architecture has been greatly enhanced to offer four-channel amplification with 2 x 7600 mW at 16 Ω in its brand new X-Hybrid design.
The DX5 II features two independent ESS DAC chips, the ES9039Q2M to be precise. This design provides a better signal-to-noise ratio, wider dynamic range and less distortion compared to the original DX5, offering an enhanced high-resolution audio experience.
It features the X-Hybrid headphone amplifier circuitry, which represents a significant technological advance over the previous NFCA architecture.
This new three-stage hybrid amplifier design not only retains the ultra-low distortion and high dynamic range characteristic of NFCA, but also improves efficiency by optimizing the circuit topology, resulting in lower static power consumption and heat generation.
Despite its compact size, the DX5 II features a fully balanced four-channel amplifier.
The DX5 II also supports Bluetooth 5.1 thanks to the QCC5125 chip and can process audio at up to 96 kHz/24 bit. It is fully compatible with LDAC, aptX Adaptive, aptX, aptX HD, AAC, SBC and other audio codecs, enabling high-quality audio transmission wirelessly and providing a music experience that surpasses CD quality.
The DX5 II has a 6.35 mm single-ended jack, a 4.4 mm balanced jack and a 4-pin XLR headphone jack, making it suitable for both low-sensitivity headphones and high-sensitivity IEMs.
With an impressively low noise floor of just 1.8 µVrms, it ensures that even the most sensitive IEMs are free from audible background noise.
The DX5 II delivers a powerful output power of 7600 mW per channel, allowing most headphones to reach their full performance potential.
TOPPING has developed a brand new parametric equalizer setting that supports ten customizable frequency bands. The innovative PEQ algorithm and desktop software allow fine tuning of frequency, gain and bandwidth of each PEQ band.
The software supports the import of target curves and raw curves, allowing you to perform curve compensation based on the target curve.
In addition, multiple profiles can be saved to easily switch between settings. All outputs can be configured independently with PEQ, allowing precise adjustment for both headphones and speakers.
The DX5 II also features a preamp mode. In this mode, you can adjust the output volume of the device and connect it directly to a pure amplifier or active speakers without the need for a separate preamplifier.
Both the input and output connections of the DX5 II have a volume memory function that automatically restores the last set volume when switching outputs. This function allows you to quickly return to your preferred listening environment.
