Penetrating Bass
The Kiwi Ears Quartet is designed around the nine isobaric subwoofer with dual dynamic drivers. The innovative driver design uses two 10mm titanium diaphragm drivers, each independently driven by two magnetic circuits. The two drivers have been passively aligned to be phase synchronous and prevent sound wave cancellations. This new subwoofer design produces extremely well extended sub-bass kicks that are tighter, faster and deeper than any previous woofer design. The Quartet is Kiwi Ear's answer for those looking for a fun in-ear monitor that also delivers the quality bass you need.
Harmonious balance
Although the Quartet is a bass-heavy IEM, Kiwi Ears has gone out of its way to create a natural tonal balance. The focus is on the need to deliver textured and powerful bass, but without washing out or dulling the mids and highs. The dynamic drivers were crossed with a passive low-pass network at 350 Hz to provide rich, thick bass, while the mids were tuned completely flat from 350-1 kHz.
This allows for accurate tonality in the mids like neutral studio monitors, while adding a touch of warmth in the lower mids. This means that the Quartet sounds bulky in the bass, but still clean and flat in the mids, preventing unwanted bloat found in most headphones.
Custom Balanced-Armature Driver
The Quartet features a custom balanced-armature driver for the midrange and a custom balanced-armature driver for the ultra-high range. These drivers have been matched to the balance of the new dynamic drivers through a tuned ventilation system to ensure better airflow. In the Kiwi Ears tradition, the Balanced Armatures are passively tuned to the in-house target curvature for the midrange and treble.
