Product information "Audioengine P4"
Passive loudspeaker
- 2-way bookshelf speaker
- Real-wood veneer
- 4-inch aramid fibre woofer
- 0.75-inch silk dome tweeter
With sleek, modern exteriors and cutting-edge technology inside, Audioengine's P4 passive loudspeakers are perfect for stereo receivers, integrated amplifiers and tube amplifiers.
Perfect for old school, new school, or even middle school
The P4 passive loudspeakers give you award-winning Audioengine sound in a bold, modern package that connects to your trusty integrated amplifier or stereo receiver.
New or old, Audioengine designed the P4 passive loudspeaker to work with both digital or hybrid amplifiers and stereo receivers, integrated amplifiers, and tube amplifiers.
The P4 has a 4 ohm impedance rating, meaning it's designed to handle higher power. At the same time, it still sounds great when connected to a receiver or integrated amplifier with 4, 6, or 8 ohm speaker output impedance.
Audioengine knows you're going to love the P4 Passives, and here's why
2-way front-firing passive design – sound comes out primarily from the front of the speaker, and you don't have to worry about sound bouncing off the walls behind the speaker.
Handcrafted enclosures - offer superior quality compared to their mass-produced competitors.
Silk-dome tweeters and aramid-fibre woofers - high-quality parts that reproduce sound excellently and are durable.
Stable enclosures: To minimise unwanted resonance and distortion, Audioengine enclosures feature thick, resinous MDF walls with extensive internal bracing.
Heavy sound-dampening material is used to reduce unwanted sound reflections within the enclosure.
All cabinet edges are radiused, which not only looks good but also reduces high-frequency diffraction effects at the front sound walls.
The P4 enclosure includes tuned ports for the front ports.
Furniture-like finishes
The P4 enclosures are available in a variety of attractive finishes, including bamboo veneers and high-gloss white paint, offering a wide range of options to complement any interior design.
Custom components
Audioengine designs and manufactures its own speaker drivers and other critical components.
In other words, the P4 is not a system built with off-the-shelf parts, but rather contains custom components engineered to our specifications.
What Audioengine doesn't directly manufacture in their factories, they've had made to their specific designs and parts, such as circuit boards, transformers, magnets, and cable harnesses.
Based on studio monitor designs
Studio monitor loudspeakers are used by producers and engineers in recording and production studios. They are designed with a flat frequency response, which allows the audio engineer to create a final mix so that the recorded music will sound good on most other speakers as well.
While Audioengine loudspeakers are not designed to be near-field studio monitors, Audioengine applies the same high-quality technologies, components, and design philosophies to all Audioengine loudspeaker systems.
Driver Designs Audioengine employs audiophile-grade silk-dome tweeters cooled by ferrofluid and featuring neodymium magnets. The silk domes hold up well at high power and the edge-driven design ensures very smooth reproduction.
The woofers are made of an aramid fibre-glass fibre weave with rubber surrounds. Aramid fibres are obviously very strong, which means that the woofer retains its shape even at high levels.
The materials and construction of the speaker are robust enough to withstand heavy use, so no speaker grilles are required.
In other words, Audioengine has done its homework on the speaker drivers, and they'll still sound and look great years from now.
Shielding
Both drivers feature internal magnetic shielding, so you can place the speakers within inches of a video monitor.
This shielding also provides protection for hard-drive-based digital music players.
